New
Website!
West Park Hospital
L
aunch i ng l a t e l a s t
month, West Park Hos-
pital’s new website is
both user-friendly and inter-
active.
“Our number one goal is
engaging patients and the
community,” Community
Relations Coordinator Ashley
Trudo says. “The old website
was stagnant and people had
stopped looking at it.”
WPH began p l ann i ng
changes to the site last Sep-
tember. The new site has a
new look and many new tools
for users.
Resources
Under the Resources tab
are a variety of helpful items.
You can sign up for one of
several e-newsletters includ-
ing keeping well, pregnancy
and new parent. The newslet-
ters will be sent out weekly
or monthly depending on the
topic.
People also will be able to
find an up-to-date calendar
with classes and events such
as aquatic therapy and first
aid/CPR.
B r ows e t h r o u g h t h e
Health Library news and
health tips. The latest health
news also can be found on the
home page.
“We partnered with Cof-
fee Communications to make
sure we have federally regu-
lated, up-to-date news,”
Trudo says. “It’s reliable
information.
Health Interactives
Located on the home page,
and also under the Health
Library, is Health Interac-
tives.
People can take quizzes to
learn about everything from
ADHD to wound care.
View one of the more than
20 available slideshows of
topics such as safe grilling,
aging myths or alcohol and
the body.
You can also take an
assessment on depression,
skin cancer risk or head-
aches, or use the calculator
to find out your BMI, the cost
of smoking or daily calorie
needs.
There’s also interesting
information graphics and
tasty recipes.
“These are visual plays
on health,” Trudo says. “We
want people to go in and see
how some of these health
issues affect them.”
Patients and Visitors
Under Patients and Visi-
tors, people are provided
with information on finan-
cial services and assistance,
health information manage-
ment, the Planetree Health
Resource Center and Health
Insurance Marketplace.
People can send a greeting
card. Just select the type of
card you wish to send – such
as get well, birth or thinking
or you – pick a favorite card
design and type your person-
alized message.
“We ’ l l t ake i t t o the
patient that day,” Trudo says.
New parents also can
share pictures of their baby
through the Web Nursery.
WPH uploads baby photos to
the site and gives each family
a password to access the pho-
tos. They can then share with
family and friends.
Cafeteria and Cafes
West Park Hospital’s caf-
eteria and cafes offer a vari-
ety of fresh dishes made from
scratch daily.
You can view the weekly
menu and see some of the
tasty dishes available.
There’s also open dates
and times for the Canyon
Rim Cafe, Apothe Cafe and
Healing Grounds.
“This is not what people
think of when they think
‘hospital food,’” Trudo says.
“Everything is fresh and
homemade.”
Eventually the page will
include recipes from the caf-
eteria and cafe menus.
In the future there will be
blogs for a variety of WPH
health professionals.
The site also will connect
to the Patient Portal, which
will give patients access to a
variety of records, including
personal health information
and test results. They’ll also
be able to request prescrip-
tion refills.
“We’re looking for feed-
back because it’s a work in
progress,” Trudo adds. “We
want to know what people
like and don’t like because
this is the new online face of
West Park Hospital.”
